Intro Episode: How it started
In this episode, I share a little bit about myself and why I wanted to start the She Just Got Going Podcast, I share what it's about, what it aims to achieve, and some snippets of a few episodes from season one that had already been recorded.
Writing this now after season one has ended fills me with a lot of gratitude. I went into this hoping I could provide episodes that would allow others to learn as much as they could in the fields they were interested in, however, I can honestly say that I walked away from this experience having learned so much myself. From the new relationships built, to the old connections revived, the experience enriched me deeply as well.
I realize that there’s no better way to prelude this episode than by using one of the first quotes I posted on the Instagram page about what everything was about.
These conversations about entrepreneurship and career advice in a South African context, led by majority women, is a resource I myself wish I had when I was younger, aside from loving podcasts, I love a good conversation about topics close to my heart. The podcast is facilitated around 2 questions. “What is one piece of advice you wish you could go back and share with yourself before you started?” and “what was one of the fears you had to overcome and how you overcame it?” After already recording a few episodes, it’s become even more clear how much not only I but how much we’ve all needed this. These open, honest, and meaningful conversations open up a world of possibilities beyond inspiring hope. These conversations remind us how far we’ve come, how valid our dreams are, and how powerful it is to get going and to keep going. These conversations also provide great advice, better yet, from people who have gone and done it before. It reminds us that everyone has setbacks, but so much more counts when it comes to the road to success. I hope this podcast becomes an invaluable resource, and that it becomes a voice of hope, a voice of community, and a voice that echoes “there’s more beyond where you are”. This project has been a labor of love, and every conversation has left me with a full heart. I am proud of our people and I am excited for what’s to come for the next generation of entrepreneurs. May the words of every speaker light a fire that provides a glow illuminating your every step on a path seemingly dark and confusing, may their words bring clarity, and may their words champion your boldness.
